Weather
July is the best time of year to visit Iceland!
In Reykjavík it will not get dark at night from May 21 until July 30, as the sun only sets for around 3 hours per day. Most hotels and Airbnbs have blackout curtains to help you sleep peacefully.
The temperatures are the warmest in July, generally the daily high is 56°F with a low of 47°F. While Iceland experiences the least amount of rain during this time of year, it still rains regularly — so bring a water resistant jacket.

Geothermal Energy
Iceland has hundreds of volcanoes and lots of natural hot springs. This abundance of hot underground water is used to heat homes, generate electricity, and even bake your own bread by digging a hole in the ground. So, if you smell sulfur while you are taking a shower, it's because this is hot water straight from the earth!
Almost 100% of Iceland’s electricity consumption comes from renewable energy.
If you're interested in these geothermal hot springs, drive out to Krýsuvík to check them out!

Alcohol
Alcohol is expensive in Iceland due to taxes levied based on the alcohol volume in a drink.
We’ll have plenty of alcohol at the wedding reception and welcome dinner. For those who are staying longer, we recommend buying alcohol at the Duty Free store in the airport when you arrive to avoid overpaying.
Check out this alcohol allowance calculator to decide how much you should buy a the airport.

Airport Transportation
Generally, the best way to get from the airport to Reykjavik (about 45 minute drive) is to take the Flybus. It's a nice charter bus, with WiFi (but no bathroom), and you can purchase tickets at the airport or in advance on their website.
The bus makes several stops, but it may be easiest to get off at the BSÍ Bus Terminal (City Center) and take a taxi the short distance to your Airbnb.
